About Us

Our aim is to contribute to the artistic culture in Jersey and to provide support for up and coming Contemporary Jersey Artists.

We aim to provide an alternative resource to showcase new artists and the new artwork that is being produced in Jersey all the time; that needs to be seen, to challenge what we know as art and open our minds to new experiences and learn new meanings.

Our Aims:

  • To create an online community for Contemporary Jersey Artists

  • To provide an interactive resource available to both artists and members of the public

  • To broaden the public's perception and understanding of artistic practice in Jersey

  • To encourage public awareness and appreciation of Visual Fine Art

  • To promote contemporary fine art practice

  • To support Contemporary Jersey Artists

Our website provides a resource for Islanders and artists, where they can find about local contemporary artists, exhibitions, galleries and exhibition spaces. We want to raise awareness of local artists whose work demonstrates both concept and aesthetics, promoting intellectual and artistic originality.

We aim to encourage communication and interaction between artists and to encourage collaborative work as well as to develop a community where artists can support and learn from one another.

We aim to encourage artists to exhibit by providing them with information about exhibition spaces and an easy means to communicate and organise exhibition groups. We provide a necessary tool for artists to showcase their work and communicate with the public as well as promote themselves, both through our website and through group and solo exhibitions.

If you would like an artist profile on this website, please send an email to cja@contemporaryjerseyartists.com. Our committee will decide whether a profile is appropriate based on the following considerations.

  • The artist's work should be contemporary in nature

  • The artist must be based in Jersey or involved in the artistic culture in Jersey

  • The artist's work should demonstrate artistic and conceptual originality

  • The artist should have a desire to be part of an artist community and to communicate/collaborate with other artists.

  • The quality of the artist's work
