Corey Moore

Artist Statement

Corey's work is based heavily in the genre of stencil graffiti, pop art and graphic art. A recurring theme within his work is politics and social observation. His work is comprised of silk screen, stencil graffiti, digital scope and traditional draught techniques.

At present I’m experimenting a lot with technique, both new and old. My current work reflects processes such as silk screen print, cut ‘n’ paste-both draft and digital and a continuing affection for spray paint. I feel as though right now I' am more concerned with technique as opposed to substance, this isn’t to say I have ruled out a subject matter rather then the subject matter is as progressive as the practical element to my art work, both practice and form are combined. My previous work delved into my own political views and social observation, these sources of inspiration have taken a back seat and I favor the use of words, literature, lyrics & conversation as a form of inspiration, this I attribute to my training in illustration, turning written communication into a visual language.

In short my work is aesthetically driven, I’m looking for new techniques to learn and combine with the tricks I already know, such artist as Shep’ Fairy, Luke and Paul Insect, Steadman, Readers wives collective and many local artists are a huge outside influence and their use of varying techniques motivates me to continue the progression of my work.
