The House of Frankenstein
Open Installation: Monday 29th June - Friday 3rd July
Rostone, Dred and Vinyl Matt from the Guernsey based Readerswives Collective; bring their own brand of eclectic monster madness to the Berni Gallery whilst a similar exhibition runs concurrently in the Centre Fold Gallery in Guernsey.
The Frankenstein reference refers to the working process of the three artists and the unpredictable clash of styles that ensue within that framework.
The Collective’s open studio philosophy will mean the public will be able to view this process first hand and talk to the artists at work in the week prior to the preview night.
The Collective work from many points of reference including visual sampling, graffiti, street art, 70's glamour photography, childhood memories, science fiction, wood carving, cartoons, skateboarding and a whole host of other subjects that might fall into the popular culture pot. With these influences the exhibition promises to be an all round visual treat that will grow from a wall mural into a full installation, culminating with the Collective giving a short lecture of their working process and influences on the night of the preview.
Private View: Saturday 4 July, 5.30pm to 7pm
Followed by an illustrated talk 7pm - 8pm in the Ritchie Room, Jersey Arts Centre.
