JJ Fox open art competition
In its 27th year, the Fox Open Art Competition is an established art competition run annually and open to all Channel Islanders, whether professional or amateur artists. This year’s prizes total £1,750 and are awarded to artists who, in the opinion of the judge, have produced the most original work of art.
Illustrator and printmaker Andy Lovell, who graduated from Liverpool Polytechnic with a BA Hons in Graphic Design Illustration in 1986, will judge this year’s competition. Having gone on to study D&AD European Illustration at The Royal College of Art in London, Andy has since taught and been a speaker at many schools of art in the UK and Norway. Since the 1980s, he has had numerous commissions for newspapers, magazines and books and held several exhibitions of his prints. The exhibition will display artwork from the competition, selected by Andy Lovell. To avoid any bias and to retain integrity, a new judge is chosen each year that live and work from outside the Channel Islands..
Preview (Presentation of prizes): Tuesday 29 September, 5.30pm - 7pm
The exhibition will subsequently tour to Guernsey and be exhibited at the Dorey Centre, St. James Concert and Assembly Hall from Tuesday 10 November - Saturday 28 November 2009.
