National Trust for Jersey HQ, The Elms, St Mary
Virginia Colback is showing her work from a six month residency at the Elms in St Mary, the headquarters of the National Trust for Jersey, from 3-10 June 2010. The preview is on Thursday 3 June from 6-8 pm and the exhibition runs every day from 10 am - 4 pm. The work is a series of paintings inspired by the land owned by the National Trust. There are large scale landscape oil paintings with flora from National Trust land in glass cases, small studies of seedheads, mounted prints of flora with paint and other media added, as well as pen and ink drawings. There will also be video of National Trust staff talking about their work and a film taken at Mourier Valley. The venue is the White Room and the Pressoir at the Elms, which is situated at the top of St Peter's Valley. Canapes and refreshments will be served. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the work goes to the Trust.
