Places and Abstractions

An exhibition of Karen's earlier work explores mark making and movement through painting. The work is both representational and abstract. Looking at and painting places, she then disects marks made within those paintings. Thes marks ransform into a much more fluid and expressive abstract image.

The paintings explore the materials and surface through a very physical process.  Karen's current practice is far removed from this early work. Karen's work has transgressed from  landscape into the body, which now dominates my practice.

This exhibition marks the beginning of her degree, of uncertainty and  a love and exploration of materials.
