Red Dot Sale

One night only event from 5.30pm - 10pm.

Exhibition and sale of artwork

For one night only the Red Dot Sale will be held at The Grand Hotel. If you’re hungry for some good art, then this is the place to be. The event is a great way of meeting local artists and will give you the opportunity to buy an original piece of contemporary artwork and even take it home with you. A unique mix of both well known and up and coming artists will be showing their work at this exciting event, with up to 16 artists exhibiting. Keep an eye out for the promotional invites with a red dot sticker attached - if you bring this along on the night you can get 10% off each purchase.

The event not only aims to give people the opportunity to buy some good quality art, but also it’s a social occasion where people will have the chance to speak to the artists involved about their work and any future plans. From painting and drawing to sculpture, ceramics and illustration; each artist works with their own individual themes and influences making for a diverse display of work.

Playing on stage at the event will be a new band called The Mulburys with their fresh, summery infusion of jazz, reggae and rock. The band: Aaron Wheller, Jack Herbert, Matt Romeril and Sam Robinson will be playing an acoustic set.

This refreshing event has been put together by a group of local artists Nick Romeril, Jason Butler, Karen Le Roy Harris, Ian Rolls and Theresa Robinson. Also greatly involved and Chairman of the group is Rod Bryans. As a group we want to continue to organize collaborative events that promote local practitioners and hopefully get practitioners working together and excited about future opportunities.

Chairman, Rod Bryans: "Its no accident that when artists get together with a collective aim their successes are remembered long after they have gone. Even greater is how they have inspired other artists or groups to get together and create new collectives, new art. Everyone craves opportunity but it's a sweeter deal if you can create your own. Ideas that challenge peoples perceptions, change their views about life or provoke open discourse are generally found in the hands of artists."

Red Dot Sale will be held at The Grand Hotel in the function suite on Thursday 26th November 2009, 5:30pm - 10:00pm.
